Nocturne in Blue
In July of 2019, I created a series of Long Duration Cyanotypes that exposed for the duration of my stay at Sim Residency. In this project, Nocturne in Blue, I placed native plants and flowers directly onto paper coated in light-sensitive cyanotype emulsion, and then exposed them under the Icelandic sun. Over time, the image formed while the materials decayed. Every viewer became involved as the act of looking became the act of making. With this work, I enjoy pushing the limitations of photography while following the tradition of using the everyday garden as an artistic practice.
