I find the phrase “making a name for yourself” extremely interesting. Becoming well-known and successful seems to be a natural goal in the art world, especially if you want to make a living from your passion. However, getting there requires compromise and can even lead to alienation from the original desire to create. I notice that questions of commercial exploitability and self-promotion often begin to overshadow my thinking. So on a sunny afternoon I decided to put an end to it and meet the demand as the fool that I am by taking it literally.
