COLOURS – LITIR

COLOURS – LITIR focusses on local natural dye colours by exploring the material diversity and colour kingdom of Korpúlfsstaðir, Iceland. Can the experience, the taste, smell, sound and rhythm of places and their distinct natural colour diversity, somewhere between technosphere and biosphere, cultural heritage and innovative practices, create a potential shift in the perception of culture, nature and sustainability?

A collection of organic silks was hand dyed to create abstract, blurred prints of found materials, such as algae, moss, wood, soil and flowers. The silks produce a colour palette along the theme of regeneration in the age of the Anthropocene – a fingerprint of the place and specific time captured in the fibres, a colourful local cartography of Korpúlfsstaðir.
