Building relationships

Construction and deconstruction of urban space is the main topic of my artistic research. The construction sites in Reykjavík fascinated me a lot.  I mostly discovered the city by strolling around. I always tried to take new ways. With the camera, I captured atmospheres and visual impressions, especially from the harbor and industrial area. These photos later served me as notes for my assemblages.

"Building relationships" is a series of temporary sculptures I made during the atelier residency at Sim. Discarded material from construction sites, from the harbor and found objects from the street became material for my sculptures. In these assemblages, I translated my personal impressions and observations from the cityscape into small scale models in the studio. All the objects were only placed and laid without a fixing construction, which is important to me, as I wanted to work with the temporary character of the scene. All the objects from my installations were later returned to the places where I found them.
