鳥居 Torii
Japan has a religion unique to we called Shinto that resembles animism, and most of the Japanese are Shinto believers. There is no scripture in Shinto, and various things such as natural objects are the objects of prayer.
I'm trying to incorporate that structure into paintings.
Iceland has many things in common with Japan, such as being an island country.
I want to think about Japanese religion while comparing Iceland and Japan.
“Torii” is a traditional Japanese gate most commonly found at the entrance of or within a Shinto shrine, where it symbolically marks the transition from the mundane to the sacred.
This project is that I build a torii in the scenery of Iceland and observe whether the role of the torii occurs or not.
